Acryloyl chloride is mainly used as a reagent in chemical synthesis for the production of acrylic polymers and acrylates.

- Solubility: Acryloyl chloride is soluble in organic solvents such as ether, chloroform and benzene, but sparingly soluble in water.
- Health risks: Acryloyl chloride is corrosive to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. It can cause severe burns and irritation on contact. Acryloyl chloride vapors are also toxic by inhalation.
- Protection and prevention: It is advisable to handle acryloyl chloride in a well-ventilated environment, and to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles and a respirator. In the event of contact with skin, eyes or respiratory tract, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice.
